Parameter Random Access Memory (PRAM)

What is PRAM?

Parameter Random Access Memory (a.k.a. non-volatile random-access memory or NVRAM ) is a type of memory that stores system settings. These setting can include screen resolution, volume controls, and much more. Sometimes, these settings can interfere with the computer and cause it to act erratically. Often these issues can be resolved by resetting the PRAM.

How do I reset the PRAM?

Step 1-
Power Down the machine. This can be done through the Apple Menu or by holding down the power button for 5 seconds.

-Step 2-
Locate the Command ( ), Option, P, and R on your keyboard.

Step 3-

Power the machine on while holding down the Command (), Option, P, and R keys.

-Step 4-
Continue holding those keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup noise for the second time.
