iChat Enables Instant Communication

New Macs feature a camera built directly into the top of the monitor. This camera works in conjunction with the iChat application, Apple's instant messaging program. iChat adds and organizes people in a buddies list, allowing for messaging and video chat with other Mac users who have the same video camera.

If your buddy has video chat capabilities, a tiny picture of a camera appears next to their name, and clicking this starts the video chat window. A picture of you will show up in a window until your buddy accepts your invitation to chat. Once accepted, your buddy will appear in the window, transferring your image to a small thumbnail at the bottom of the window. Using the built-in microphone, you and your buddy can now have a direct, face-to-face conversation from anywhere in the world.
