The eMac, short for "education Mac," uses the capable PowerPC G4 processor. Originally, Apple wanted it to be directed toward the educational market, but this plan changed and the computer began to be sold to a wider audience. Plus, multiple upgrades over the period of a few years boosted this desktop's performance capabilities considerably.
