Certain video cards that ship with Power Mac G5 (Late 2005), Mac Pro (Original), and Mac Pro (Early 2008) configurations require the use of a DVI extension cable to allow more than a single DVI connection to be made. This is true for both Apple displays and third-party displays. The DVI connector size on certain display cables prevents two cables from connecting to a single card at the same time. Because the male DVI connection on the adapter is thinner than other male DVI cable connections, it enables you to connect two DVI displays to your Mac.
